The solution to a 100 year old problem
Ok, so electric cars are
great everyone says but how do we go long distance?
That is a question that has been asked for 100 years.
Henry Ford's wife drove an electric car and Thomas
Edison drove an electric car and they loved them.
They didn't have a polluting trail of smoke behind them
and more importantly they were quiet so they didn't
scare off the major traffic at the time which were
horses.
So what happened? Why
didn't it take on like it could have. The problem
was they couldn't go long distance because there was no
charging infrastructure in place. It was easier
and cheaper to go with gasoline. Well we have gone
the distance and look where we have arrived. A 100
years later we have a world so polluted not even the
honeybees can survive. If we don't turn this
around in the next 20 years we will have a planet that
can't even produce fruits and vegetables. Who do
you think is going to pollinate them when all the bees
are dead?
Global Warming? The
planet has been heating up and cooling off for millions
of years before humans showed up. Our big problem
is the pollution we are creating and plastic is just
another from of the oil problem that ends up in the food
chain on the bottom of the ocean and in our ground.
If we clean up the planet we are home free. If the
pollution caused any global warming that too will be
solved with cleaning up the planet.
Thank God we are running out of oil and the price is
going up. Now we have to do something about it.
If you need more information for some motivation that we
have to do something then listen to what a billionaire
American oil man,
T.
Boone Pickens, has
to say. Natural gas is a good short term solutions
as we move on to cleaner alternatives like wind, solar,
geothermal, and others.
The charging stations you
see above at
Coulomb
Technologies are the solution to the 100 year
old problem. These charging stations will be
placed everywhere you can possibly think of and you can
kiss the gas stations good by. Who would want to
wait at even a power charging station for 10 minutes
when you could shop, sleep, eat, or see a movie while
your electric car was charging up. That is the
road we are turning on to. We all sit around and wonder
and say, "well what can I do to help us out of all
this?" The sooner we tell business owners we want
charging stations at their location the sooner we will
get there. That's what we all can do to help.
I hear people all day long say solar is just too
expensive and it will take 10 to 15 years to get a
return on my investment just to reduce an electric bill
of $100 a month. Yes, that is true but here is the
rest of the story. Once you start charging your
electric car at home and stop going to the gas station
you will get your return on investment within 3 to 6
years including the price of the eclectic car.
From that point on the money is going back into your
pocket forever! I spend about $20,000 a year on
utilities of which 90% is gasoline. In four years
that's $80,000. What kind of alternative energy
solutions will that buy? A good chunk of it!
Why do you want to stay
on the grid with your solar and wind? So you can
buy low and sell high. That's how profits have and
always will be made. Sure you will want the option
to be off the grid incase the grid goes down so you will
have your Personal Power when you need it. When
the grid is up, which is most of the time, you want to
sell the extra electricity you generate back to them
during the day when rates are high, and buy the electric
back to charge your car at night when rates are low so
you make a profit and charge your car at the same time.
This concept works
perfectly with Coulomb Technologies charging systems for
businesses. Most homes will not need them because
they will plug directly into their own system but the
concept of buying low and selling high will still work
with with your utility company.
That is another thing we can do as individuals.
Tell our utility companies we want more than a break
even dollar amount when our meters spin backwards above
and beyond our usage. We want cash back like a
number of states already mandate from their utility
companies. All states should be doing this.
We will become the power generators, both home and
business, and this will reduce the need for more nuclear
and coal burring power plants. They will purchase
from us, mark it up and resell it when an where it's
needed.

Corporate Power
As much as we would like
to eliminate corporate power we will see that in a
world where everyone is included, no one left out,
corporate power will be here when we need
it. Corporations will see that we are no
longer dependant and powerless. In turn they
will listen to our request, "Provide us with the
clean green power and we will pay for it when we
need it".
Who would you have to be to play this game?
Everyone Included, No One Left Out!
In a world that everyone is included and no one left
out we need corporate power to re-charge our electric
cars. We need it for those long trips where we
cannot connect to our personal power source, solar and
wind generators, and our standard utility company at
home when we need it.
We thought converting all highways to solar power and
feeding that back to electric cars would be a good idea.
The problem is who would pay for it? You and me
through increased taxes. This is not a good idea!
So what are the possible options? All
restaurants, shopping malls, hotels and motels, that see the
opportunity will be our future and convenient Corporate
Power Stations and we will forever, with a big smile,
wave good bye to the gas stations. Imagine, no
more waiting in line at the gas station to pump the ever
increasing price of gas. No more wars fighting
over fossil fuels. What a concept!
Scalable Corporate Power
Imagine you are driving long distance and you are
running out of power. You press your GPS system
and up pops the nearest location for a Re-Charge It
Power Station, a
local restaurant with preferred parking! You are
so smart! You even have a
ZEV parking decal on
your windshield, the Parking Pass for the Parking Space.
You pull up to the restaurant and there are the usual
handicap parking spaces right up front. The next
best parking spaces are just a few for "Electric Cars"
and these spaces are scaleable. The more you need
the more parking spaces you equip for charging cars.
The restaurant marks up their cost of electricity to
gain a profit. Once they install the solar and
wind generators their profit greatly increases.
This creates a new income stream for the restaurant and
decrease the demand from the utility companies.
You drive into your parking space, plug in your car,
take note of the space number, walk into the restaurant.
While you wait for your table you run your credit card
through a reader and enter your parking space number. Your car is
fully charged in 10 minutes while your eat.
Now that is service and you have just helped to clean
up the environment and end all wars over fossil fuels!
Time to enjoy a good meal. What car charges in 10
minutes? Check out the
Zap-X or convert the car you currently own at
Left Coast Eclectic or a similar company.
Corporate Power Distribution
What corporations, restaurant chains, and shopping
malls, and motels will see the opportunity and take action first?
We will be contacting them to see. Who will
sponsor the Personal Power Project to help get "Our
Word" out so it begins working for you, me, and the rest
of the world?
Bring anyone and everyone to us that is interested in this
project and we will promote those companies and
locations that take action. We are looking for
volunteers and we will put you through a three month
training program that will prepare you for a full time
paid position.
We are the clearing
house for helping to make it happen and to keep the
information coming your way through the Personal Power
Project web site.
The human race is not a parasite that will eventually
kill this planet. We are a race that is full of
love and compassion and we are making this planet and
the universe a truly exciting and better place to live
for each new generation, one person and one generation
at a time.
Where to charge your
EV (Electric Vehicle) and the types of connectors used
There are a number of
business locations where you can charge your electric
vehicle as seen at our links on the left side of this
page under "The Parking Spaces". The type of
connectors are a little confusing so we have some
explanations below.
Inductive Connector:
This connector is made by Toyota and more
information can be seen at the Clean Fuel Connection web
site on our left side links. It is a flat disk on
the end of a cable which slips into the front of an
electric vehicle. These are being provide as a
free charge station by companies like Costco.
Business owners providing these would have to upgrade
them with a 110v standard receptacle for hybrid cars at
their own expense.
Conductive Connector:
This connector is a knuckle looking connector
which comes on the newer cars like the Tesla Roadster.
You can find charging locations for these on the maps at
the left side of this page as well.
110v Connector: This
is your standard 110v three prong plug and receptacle
that you find in your home and is being used on most
hybrid cars currently being manufactured and sold as of
2007.
The Personal Power
Project will be calling business owners that currently
do not offer a charging station to the general public
and encouraging them to be part of the alternative
energy solutions.

From the GM-Volt page
The cost of a KWH from the electric
grid varies considerably depending
on location and time of use.
Usually, off-peak hours, from 9PM to
10AM will have the lowest rates from
one’s electric utility provider.
This will require a special meter
that not all homes have.
The map above shows the average
retail price of electricity in the
U.S. by state in 2003. It ranges
from around 6 cents/KWH to 17
cents/KWH. The U.S. average for 2007
is 10.65 cents. To see the numbers
for the current year click
here. If we use the average, the
cost to recharge the Volt will be
$0.85, and the range for 2007 will
be from 48 cents to $1.34 depending
where you live. Clearly for 40 miles
of driving at present gas and
electric prices, there will be a
very significant cost savings. Of
course, there is some uncertainty of
where these numbers will be when the
Volt arrives in 2010.
After the first 40 miles, the
combustion engine generator will
kick in. This will keep the battery
at a 30% state of charge. This
3-cylinder 1L engine will get 50
mpg
fuel efficiency. To calculate
the fuel efficiency for drives
longer than 40 miles use the
following formula: Total MPG =
55*M/(M-40)
ENERGY DIVERSITY AND
SECURITY
There is also strong energy
security value for driving this car.
The following graph illustrates
where the power of the electric grid
comes from:
Certainly the renewable sector
has room to grow, but overall you
can see that coal, of which the U.S.
has a tremendous supply, is the main
source of electric energy. So in
actuality, the Volt is a
coal-burning car.
This may dissatisfy certain
environmentalists. But widespread
adoption of this vehicle will likely
lead to increased consumer adoption
of home-generated renewable energy
such as solar panels, whose prices
are dropping and efficiencies are
increasing. This will allow one to
drive “for free” and be independent.
